Man Given Warning by Police for Releasing Crickets into his Yard

Daniel Emlyn-Jones, a school teacher in Oxford, England, bought 1,000 crickets online and released them into his yard because he enjoys the sounds they make. However, he was quickly visited by the police and issued a warning — not for the noise, but because he had violated the Wildlife and Countryside Act, which forbids the release of foreign species because they may disrupt local wildlife.
