Videos from Derek Woller at ECN and ESA Meetings
Derek Woller, a graduate student working in the Song Lab of Insect Systematics and Evolution at the University of Central Florida, made these videos in Austin, TX during the 2013 annual meetings of the Entomological Collections Network (ECN) and the Entomological Society of America (ESA).
The ECN is a long-standing organization whose mission is to disseminate information about best practices in entomological (and arthropod) natural history collections. In the following video, Derek talks to meeting attendees about why they come to ECN meetings and why insect collections are important:
Derek also spoke with Alex Wild of Alex Wild Photography, a business that transforms his amazing and compelling natural insect photos into mesmerizing art:
He also chatted with Lisa Senetar, an artist and biochemist who creates insect jewelry through her company PhbeaD, a place where science meets art.
This short video shows the guys from Macroscopic Solutions, an innovative company making strong inroads into the magnificent world of macro photography.
AND, as an added bonus, here’s a short video of entomologists talking about their favorite insects to eat, and how they like to prepare them:
