Coptotermes formosanus
Pest management professionals often use an insecticide known as a chitin synthesis inhibitor (CSI) to eliminate colonies of the Formosan subterranean termite (Coptotermes formosanus). A recent study at the University of Florida found that CSI baits have no effect on the termites’ natural compulsion to return to their central next to molt, an important factor in the efficacy of such baits.
