While populations have subsided in the eastern United States, the brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys) is making inroads into the midwestern and the southern U.S., where it is causing as much damage as it did when it first became a problem in the mid-Atlantic U.S. The species has now spread to 44 states.
