European grapevine moth – Lobesia botrana
In 2009, the invasive European grapevine moth (Lobesia botrana) was found in northern California, and shortly after a collaborative, multi-faceted response was launched by grape growers, the wine industry, University of California researchers, and local, state, and federal officials. The effort was a success, as the pest was declared eradicated from the state in 2016. (Photo credit: Flickr/Ben Sale, CC BY 2.0)
