spotted-wing drosophila – Drosophila suzukii
The invasive fruit fly known as spotted-wing drosophila (Drosophila suzukii) is a bane of fruit growers in regions it has appeared—North America, South America, and Europe—from its native Asia. Researchers are working to understand parasitoid wasps that are natural enemies of the fruit fly species and how to best conserve these parasitoids in the course of integrated pest management programs for spotted-wing drosophila.
