Jana Lee lab assay
Research entomologist Jana Lee, Ph.D., of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service in Corvallis, Oregon, grinds up an insect in preparation for an assay that will provide information about the insect’s energetic level. Such tests can reveal insights into insect physiology, ecology and behavior. A new review of entomological assays by Lee in Annals of the Entomological Society of America is part of a special collection on “Tools of the Behavior and Biocontrol Trade.” (Photo credit: Gracie Galindo/USDA-ARS)
