A food-grade gum substance shows promise as a new tool for managing the invasive spotted-wing drosophila (Drosophila suzukii). The method for delivery initially designed by researchers involved smearing the gum on microfiber cloth, hanging it up, and activating and keeping it moist with water from a drip irrigation system.
