Bombus flavidus distribution

In a new study published this month in Insect Systematics and Diversity, researchers have synonymized the cuckoo bumble bee species Bombus fernaldae with Bombus flavidus. The broad geographic distribution of the species—Bombus flavidus in Europe and Asia and Bombus fernaldae in North America, shown here—make the now-combined Bombus flavidus species the most broadly distributed bumble bee species of any kind in the world.
