The pages of R. P. J. Hervier’s Livre de prieres: d’apres les enluminures des manuscrits du XIVe au XVIe siècle, published in 1887, are made entirely of silk and woven with black and grey thread. It took 2 years and almost 50 trials to correct the technique. Here, a copy is shown on display at the Rare Book and Manuscript Library at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
