One part of Laura Figueroa’s research is bridging bee biology with computer science to develop a machine-learning model that can monitor bees based on their sounds in a non-lethal and standardized way. Here, Figueroa sets up an arena to record flight sounds of the common eastern bumble bee (Bombus impatiens).
