ticks on horse

Karen Poh, Ph.D., sits in a chair next to a horse and places ticks on the horse

Karen Poh, Ph.D., puts ticks on a horse for an on-animal experiment testing permethrin concentrations and their longevity as a repellent for horses. This was part of a collaborative project with Penn State University’s Vector-Borne Disease Team and the Equine Extension Team, where researchers and extension educators work together to address and translate research findings to protect equine owners and their horses from ticks and tick-borne diseases. All animal activities are conducted under an approved animal welfare protocol.
