Lone star tick – Amblyomma americanum – female
In a four-year collaboration between the USDA Forest Service’s Southern Research Station and the University of Tennessee, Forest Inventory and Analysis crews were provided with with tick-related training and collection kits. Among the 1,180 ticks they collected and sent to UT researchers, the Lone star tick (Amblyomma americanum) was the most common. (Photo credit: USDA Forest Service Forest Inventory and Analysis)
