Parthenium community study in Ethiopia
Two women in Ethiopia participate in a gender assessment on the effects of Parthenium, an invasive weed in East Africa. The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Integrated Pest Management helps communities control Parthenium via natural insect enemies. This particular session assesses the community’s perception of Parthenium’s impact on livestock milk quality and taste, in addition to children’s consumption of Parthenium-contaminated milk, sale price at the market, and economic impact.
