A new study finds that three corn varieties bred for drought resistance also stand up better to the Banks grass mite when drought conditions set in—a potential boon to growers in regions with diminishing water supplies. Lead author of the study was Alice Ruckert, Ph.D., former student in the lab of Ricardo Ramirez, Ph.D., at Utah State University, and now a research entomologist at Scotts Miracle-Gro Company.
