hopper and ant

In this shot, Lou positioned herself between the sun and this hopper nymph to create shade. Without that shade the tiny bead of honeydew that is entrancing the ant would likely have been blown out by reflected sunlight, as would much of the detail of the nymph and ant. A Raynox 250 was also used on this shot. Photo taken in Virginia, USA. f/13, 1/80th, flash. Photo by Lou Staunton.
