USDA Forest Service Forest Inventory and Analysis crew
By the nature of their work, Forest Inventory and Analysis crews for the USDA Forest Service’s Southern Research Station spend a lot of time in tick-friendly habitat. A project in collaboration with researchers at University of Tennessee provided the Forest Service crews with tick-related training and collection kits to preserve ticks they encountered on the job. The 1,180 ticks the crews collected and sent in over four years offer valuable insights into tick populations in the 13-state Southern region.
